Vehicle Code § 23247(e) makes it a crime for any person to operate any vehicle not equipped with a functioning, certified ignition interlock device (“IID”), if that person’s driving privilege is restricted pursuant to any of the following:

• Vehicle § 13352 (Speed Contest conviction)
• Vehicle Code § 23575 (Driving with a DUI suspended or revoked license)
• Vehicle Code § 23700 (DUI conviction)

What is the punishment for a violation of Vehicle Code § 23247?

Any person convicted for a violation of Vehicle Code § 23247 is guilty of a misdemeanor punishable by up to six months in jail and a fine of up to $5,000.
